What is Employability, Let’s Work Together?
This is a joint internship programme initiated between Round Oak School and National Grid. It took its first cohort of Interns in Warwick in September 2013. The programme is now based in Warwick and Hinckley with plans to start up in Solihull and Wokingham also. The programme runs for an academic year and gives students the chance to work in different areas of the workplace and develop the skills they can use for future employment.
What’s involved in the internship?
In September 2014, National Grid welcomed six ’interns’ aged 17-22 from Round Oak School, Hereward College and Warwickshire College to the Warwick office to begin their internships, supported by two Job Coaches. The interns will complete work related study alongside their placements. The students will get to work in departments such as SSR, finance, property, IT and communications.
What are the benefits?
On completion of the internship, each student will receive a BTEC ‘Skilled for Life, Skills for Work’ qualification. In addition, this is a great opportunity for anyone who would like to get a taste of working life, whilst gaining invaluable skills such as confidence and communication.
